crisyong Asked:
Hi there, love your artwork! So what is it that inspires you? What aspects of life really interest you?

My Answer:

Hey! Thank you so much for the support, it means a lot to me. I’d have to say I’m loving yours as well! :D

And getting down to the gritty… Hahaha! There’s a lot of things that inspire me. But! Generally…

  • Artists: (Michelangelo Buonarroti, JW Waterhouse, Kris kuksi, Yoshitaka Amano)
  • Art Movements: (High Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassicism & Romanticism)
  • Old etchings, engravings and mezzotints
  • Anatomy (Especially human, deers, owls, finches & cats)
  • Dreams & Nightmares
  • Theology & Comparative Religion

Aspects of life that really interest me… Hm!! I find myself gravitating to eerie, creepy subjects and theories. There’s a certain mystic that I really can’t get enough of. However, (this applies to both questions) I would have to say striving for a neutral, non-judging perspective on life has inspired and has held my interest more than anything I have come across thus far. One of my absolute favorite professors and good friend of mine, Adnan Razack, confirmed that by saying something along the lines of,  ”Have you ever noticed that it seems as if… people as the grow older they become more narrow-minded? Why is that? Aren’t we supposed to grow wiser as we grow older? Our minds should become more open to the world, not closed.” I think he’s right. Frankly, I believe I have learned more living in this lifestyle then I would have otherwise. It forces me to listen and truly learn both sides of the story. There’s always a beautiful side to an ugly story and ugly side to a beautiful story. So, what aspects of life interest me? Everything. Most people that get to know we will shortly find out I’m a walking encyclopedia.

And I guess you can add my professor to that list too!
